A plastics inspection chamber comprises a cylindrical shaft 5a mounted on a separate, integrally-formed lower part comprising a peripheral wall 16, a channel 2 and "beaching" 3", there being a peripheral lip 17 around the base of the wall 16 on which the shaft is mounted. The shaft has inlet and outlet apertures 19 and 20, and is preferably formed of two layers of fibre-reinforced thermosetting resin with an intermediate, foamed layer. The lower part is preferably formed from a thin, fibre-reinforced thermo-setting resin sheet, and may have a base plate arranged across and under it, attached to the lower surface of the rim 17.
