Abstract

1,206,855. Mowers. FELLA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 31 May, 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 26088/68. Heading A1F. A mowing or harvesting machine consists of a carrier beam adapted to be attached at one end to the three point hitch of a tractor and with mowing rotors 8, 9 carrying rotary cutting elements attached to the other end, the rotors being driven from bevel gear 10 via a twice crossed driving belt. The two parts 1, 2 of the carrier are hinged about pivot pin 3 and the outer part 2 is held in its working position by a spring-loaded safety catch 4. The driving belt 11 of hexagonal crosssection passes from pulley 12 on bevel gear 10, crossed to twin pulleys 13, 14 on rotor 8 and crossed again to the other rotor 9, the crossing of the belt between pulleys 12 and 13, 14 coinciding with pivot pin 3 to avoid disrupting the drive transmission when the mower swings back to avoid an obstacle. The cutting circles of the blades 17 of the rotors leave a small gap which is bridged by fingers 25 arranged to direct crop into the path of the rotors. [GB1206855A]
