Abstract
1,226,081. Oxime ether derivatives. CIBA Ltd. 2 Jan., 1969 [5 Jan., 1968], No. 315/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises oxime ether carbamates, carbonates and esters of the formula in which R 1 denotes an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic residue, or an araliphatic residue optionally interrupted by an oxygen atom, or a 6-membered heterocyclic residue, Y denotes oxygen or the group -NH- or -N(CH 3 )-, n is 0 or 1, X denotes halogen, at least one of R 2 and R 3 is a nitro group, the other being, optionally, another electron-attracting group, a number of which are specified, or, as a further alternative, R 3 may be a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group, and R 4 and R 5 denote hydrogen or halogen atoms, alkyl or alkoxy groups of 1-4 carbon atoms or groups -COOR<SP>1</SP>, COOH, -N(A 1 )(A 2 ) or -CON(A 1 )(A 2 ), R<SP>1</SP> denoting an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms and A 1 and A 2 denoting hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups of 1-4 carbon atoms. The products are obtainable from starting materials of the formula by reaction (a) with carboxylic acids or their halides or anhydrides, when n is zero, or (b) with halogenoformic esters of the formula R 1 -O-CO-X, in which X denotes halogen, when Y is oxygen, or (c) with isocyanates of the formula R 1 NCO or with carbamic acid chlorides of the formulµ R 1 -NH-COCl or R 1 -N(CH 3 )- -COCl, when Y denotes -NH- or -N- (CH 3 )-. The examples describe, inter alia, the manufacture of products of the types various specific instances of R 1 being given in each case. The products are useful as acaricides and herbicides (see Division A5). Starting materials of the second formula above are themselves obtainable from an appropriately substituted chlorobenzene of the formula and a 3,5 - dihalogeno - 4 - hydroxybenzaldoxime.
