Abstract

1,239,907. Pipe connectors. ALUMASC Ltd. 20 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 43481/67. Heading F2G. A connector C for permitting fluid flow to and from a container, such as a cask, and for admitting gas to the container comprises a body 15 for detachable engagement in relation to the container, the body 15 having a passageway head 16 operable for movement in relation to the container for fluid-tight seating by annular sealing means 19 against a structure surrounding a valve 9. Compression of the sealing means 19 operates a valve to connect a gas passageway 23 of the head to the container through the valve 9. The passage for the flow of fluid and gas terminate in the head in concentric mouths operated by an annular wall for engaging and opening the valve 9. In the construction shown, the sealing means operated valve comprises an inner rigid ring 21 of metal, e.g. stainless steel, attached to the sealing means 19 and seating against a sealing ring 22 which surrounds a liquid, e.g. beer, passageway member 20. The connector C is also provided with a sealing ring 20b which co-operates with the valve 9 of the container depression of the valve 9 about a tubular member 11 allowing the sealing ring 20b to slide thereabout to bring ports 11b of the member 11 into communication with the bore of the liquid passageway member 20. The valve unit V of the container has a body 1 screwed into a cask ring 3, the head 2 of the body being encased at 10 in sheet metal and the metal engaging the sealing means 19 of the connector. The passageway head 16 is moved towards the container by a lever 17 against spring loading 18.
