Abstract
1,241,211. Blowpipe burners. TANAKA SEISAKUSHO K.K. 11 Sept., 1968 [1 April, 1968], No. 43230/68. Heading F4T. [Also in Division B3] In a method of removing metal by directing a main oxygen stream 5 having a minimum pressure of 50 p.s.i.g. toward a metal article 9 preheated by a preheat flame 6, 7, the main oxygen stream 5 is surrounded by a shielding gas stream 8 such as oxygen having a flow rate of 50-300 ft.<SP>3</SP>/hr. and a force of 0À5-4À5 poundals. In one embodiment, preheating oxygen gas is fed through an inlet 21 of a torch mixed with preheating fuel gas fed from an inlet 20 and ejected out of a passageway 3 in the nozzle 1. The cutting oxygen is fed from an inlet 18 through a passageway 2 and the shielding oxygen gas fed through an inlet (18<SP>1</SP>) and passageways 17 and 4. Alternatively, the shielding oxygen passageway 4 is supplied with oxygen from the cutting oxygen supply passageway 15 (Figs. 4a, 4c, 5a, 5c, not shown) or from the preheating oxygen inlet 20 (Fig. 4d, not shown). The gaseous passageways in the nozzle 1 may be in the form of an annular opening or a plurality of openings disposed along a circle. The gas for the preheating flame 6, 7 may be supplied through a separate nozzle (Fig. 1b not shown).
