Abstract

1322791 Reinforcing concrete BAU-STAHLGEWEBE GmbH 3 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 32293/70 Heading E1W [Also in Division D1] A reinforcing rod, or a mat of longitudinal and transverse rods, for reinforcing concrete and required to have a predetermined anchoring length is provided with a transverse rod near the ends of the longitudinal rods to assist anchoring, and which enables the physical anchoring length to be reduced and is disposed within such physical length. The effect of the transverse bar is to reduce the anchoring length by a predetermined amount. The bar is preferably placed within the half of the physical length remote from the end of the mat, in which case the anchoring length is reduced by a third. If the rod is fixed in the outer half the anchoring length is reduced by a sixth; it may be substantially at the mid point when several mats are used as a reinforcement their edges are overlapped.
