Abstract

1300808 Moulding and cutting installation ETABS M COLLET & FILS 9 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 43137/70 Heading B5A An installation for the moulding of bitumen blocks which are cut into slabs and fed to a packaging and stacking station comprises a number of adjacent moulds, each having a concrete base 1 with embedded cooling coils 2, located between pairs of rails 6 extending lengthwise thereof along which a driven cutting machine 7 travels. Transverse rails 30 are engaged by retractable rollers on the machine and enable it to transfer from one mould to the other. After supplying liquid bitumen to the moulds, which include longitudinally adjustable transverse walls 4, the machine is driven stepby-step a distance equal to the length of a desired slab in the direction of the arrow F, Fig. 4, whereupon an inclined blade 13 mounted on rollers 15 lifts a strip of desired length from a mould bottom enabling it to be received on a support 43. A carriage 17 supported on the machine by rollers on transverse rails 35 carries a cutter blade 19 and is driven transversely to cut the strip from the block; the carriage is then returned to its initial position whereupon a pusher member 20 is moved downwardly to engage one end of the severed strip. The carriage is now fed transversely step-by-step a distance equal to the desired width of the slab to push the end of the strip on to a tray 24 suspended on an endless conveyer 25, and a cutter 22 removes a slab of desired width from the strip. The slab is then raised by the conveyer and pushed towards a packaging machine from which the packaged slab is fed to a stacker. [GB1300808A]
