Abstract
Pressuring and heating device has two identical matrixs with spherical cavities on their approaching faces and carried peripheral parts placed so that, when the faces of the cavities approach each other, the cavities form a high pressure chamber in which a container of thermally and electrically insulating material is placed, this container becoming plastic when it is compressed on all sides and flows into the space formed between the conical portions of the faces during the approach of the matrixes. The ratio between the radius of curvature of the surface of the cavity in the matrix and the diameter of this cavity is not >0.75, and the volume of the container is chosen so that the sum of the material of the container and the material placed in the container is equal to the sum of the volume of the high pressure chamber and the volume of the space between the matrixes. Used for the synthesis of very hard materials, such as diamonds and cubic boron nitrade.
