Abstract
1299641 Tobacco composition; reconstituted tobacco IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 13866/70 Heading A2C A smoking mixture comprises tobacco, a harmless inorganic filler and a binder, the proportion by weight of said filler in the mixture being from 40% to 65% and the combination of cations and anions in the filler being such as to impart to the mixture a commercially acceptable burning rate. In the examples, ground tobacco is formed into an aqueous slurry together with: one of the binders sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, locust bean gum or sodium alginate; glycerol; calcium carbonate or calcium oxalate; and one or more of magnesium carbonate, sodium silicate, potassium citrate, citric acid or ammonium sulphate and the slurry is cast to form a sheet which is then shredded. Other suitable ingredients are specified.
