Abstract

1352687 Moulding pipe joints AVON RUBBER CO Ltd 26 May 1971 [27 May 1970] 25593/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] In a method of forming a sealed joint between two pipes 34, 38, a sealing tape 30 is compressed between a flange 36 (on the pipe 38) and the pipe 34 by means of a pressure moulding portion 42 of a mould 41 movable longitudinally of the pipes by a screw threaded portion 46 on the mould bracket 44 which engages a nut 48 held on a collar 50 clamped to the pipe 34. The mould portion 42 has frusto-conical surfaces 43, 45 which force the sealing material against the end face of the flange 36 and against the pipe 34. The sealant material may be thermoplastic or thermosetting, and is preferably a polychloroprene composition. The method may be used to re-seal an existing joint. [GB1352687A]
