Abstract
1321807 Abrasive products DE BEERS INDUSTRIAL DIAMOND DIVISION Ltd 18 June 1971 [24 June 1970] 28624/71 Heading C4V Compacts comprise graphite-free diamond particles having a continuous coating of titanium and molybdenum held in a matrix of metal compatible with the coating metal. The term "compatible" means that the matrix must be such as to allow diffusion of the titanium or molybdenum into it i.e. alloy formation. Suitable metal matrices are listed including Fi/Co/Cr/Fe : 34/18/14/5, Fe/Ni : 12/15, and Fe/Fi : 63/2. The titanium or molybdenum coating may be of the order of 1000-2000 thick. It may be applied by vacuum deposition. The matrix may also be tungsten carbide bonded with a transition metal of the Group VIII, such as cobalt.
