Abstract
1336058 Fermentation alcoholic mash, distillation VERSUCHS - UND LEHRANSTALT FUR SPIRITUSFABRIKATION and H ROTHER [trading as KORNBRENNEREI U LIKORFABRIK] 4 Oct 1971 [2 Oct 1970] 46155/71 Heading BIB Fermented mash is stripped of dissolved gases and first runnings in distillation column B and is then submitted to steam-stripping in column A; the vapour reaching the head of column A divides into two streams one of which contains 97 to 99% of the alcohol and flows to rectification column D, while the other stream is introduced into the lower part of column B to supply the heat required therein. Concentrated alcohol is obtained at the head of column D. Fusel oil is withdrawn through pipe 12. The liquid leaving the foot of column D is pumped to the head of column A. Alcohol-free slops run out of the foot of column A through pipe 9. The vapours leaving the head of column B flow up column C; and most of the distillate from condenser K 1 is refluxed to column C while the remainder is discharged through pipe 5. The liquid reaching the foot of column C flows through pipe 6 to column B. The production of corn-brandy is referred to.
