Abstract
1331062 Detergents for washing fabrics PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 28 Oct 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 51507/70 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprises a mixture of (A) a zwitterionic surfactant of formula wherein R is C 8 -C 24 straight or branched chain alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are C 1 -C 6 alkyl and n is 1 to 4, and (B) a polyethoxy or mixed polyethoxy/ polypropoxy non-ionic surfactant, the weight ratio of (A) to (B) being from 9 : 1 to 1 : 9. (A) may be 3-(N-dodecyl benzyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonio) propane- 1-sulphonate or 4-(N-dodecylbenzyl - N,N - dimethylammonio) - n - butane - 1 - sulphonate. (B) may be non-ionic surfactants of formula wherein R<SP>111</SP> is C 10 -C 18 alkyl or C 7 -C 15 alkyl phenyl, wherein X is 3 to 15. Optional ingredients are (1) inorganic builders, e.g. polyphosphates, carbonates, sulphates, silicates and borates; (2) organic builders, e.g. polycarboxylic acids such as citric and gluconic acids; polymeric carboxylic acids, e.g. polyacrylic acid; salts of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid or nitrilo-triacetic acid; (3) bleaching agents e.g. sodium perborate; and (4) proteolytic, amylolytic and lipolytic enzymes. The compositions are suitable for washing polyester, polyamide or cotton fabrics. Specifications 1, 243,784 and 1,274,005 are referred to.
