Abstract
1343653 Aerosol anti-perspirants COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 8 Nov 1971 [13 Nov 1970] 51727/71 Heading C4X [Also in Division A5] An aerosol antiperspirant comprises a liquefied gaseous propellant and aluminium sulphamate powder in the form of a substantially anhydrous suspension. The composition may comprise 60-95% by wt. propellant, 0À5-8% Al sulphamate, 0À5-12% of a non-volatile, non-hygroscopic organic liquid vehicle, 0À05- 1% of a suspending agent, 0À02-0À5% of a bactericide, 0À05-1% of a perfume, and minor amounts of surfactants, emollients, e.g. glycerine or propylene glycol, or anhydrous aliphatic alcohols. Suitable vehicles are fatty alcohols, ethers, esters, acids or ethoxylated derivatives thereof, silicones, and mineral oils. The suspending agent may be a colloidal silica or clay, and the bactericide di- or hexa-chlorophene, 3,4<SP>1</SP>,5- tribromosalicylanilide, or 2,2<SP>1</SP>,3,4-tetrabromosalicylanilide. The propellant may be propane, butane, i-butane, or pentane, or a halohydrocarbon. In Examples 1-14 the liquid vehicles and surfactants used are as follows:-(1) i-propyl myristate; (2), (3) a polydimethyl siloxane/ glycol copolymer; (4) polyethylene glycol 400 derivative of coconut fatty acid monoester "Nonisol 100" + butanol/propylene oxide condensate "A.P. Oil"; (5), (6) "A.P. Oil" + nonyl phenol/ethylene oxide condensate "Igepal C.O. 630"; (7), (8) "Igepal C.O. 630"; (9), (10) "A.P. Oil" + "Igepal C.O. 630"; (11)-(14) as (9), (10) + the silicone of (2), (3).
