Abstract
1302450 Seaming non-metallic sheet material IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUST. RIES Ltd 16 June 1971 [2 July 1970] 32152/70 Heading B5K [Also in Divisions B2 and B8] A method of closing the open end of a plastics film container for liquids or the like, comprises forming a transverse heat-seal 3 between opposed walls 1, 2 of lay-flat tubing, folding the end over inwardly of the seal at 5, and securing the folded end against the exterior of wall 2 by an adhering strip 6 which may be self-adhesive, heat-sealable tape, or a tape coated with heat-activated adhesive. The plastics sheet may be of polyethylene terephthalate coated externally with a vinylidene chloride copolymer. The body of the container may have a protective paper sleeve, and the strip 6 may be broad enough to cover the end of the container completely.
