1390369 Pharmaceutical compositions CIBA-GEIGY AG 27 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 19568/72 Heading A5B A composition suitable for use in a pharmaceutical or veterinary preparation, or for an animal feed or additive to animal feed, comprises 1) a bactericidally active rifamycin compound and 2) a bactericidally active nitrofuran compound. The rifamycin compound is suitably a semi-synthetic derivative of rifamycin SV or S and the nitrofuran compound is suitably a 5-nitrofuran derivative. Preferred compounds include rifampicin, nitrofurantoin, furazolidone and furaltadone, but many others are specified. The compositions may be for oral use or in the form of suppositories or ointments.
