Abstract
1342445 Automatic control of reactive current HELIOWATT WERKE ELEKTRIZITATS-GmbH 23 June 1972 [5 Oct 1971] 29668/72 Heading G3R A system for limiting the reactive current tapped from a network includes a threshold device which is capable of producing an error signal to switch a sequence of bistable multivibrators associated with reactive current compensating devices. In the system shown, a transducer M produces a direct voltage output proportional to the reactive current in network I, U. This voltage passes through an amplifier V to threshold switches N, P responsive respectively to excessive capacitive and inductive current components. A non- responsive zone may be adjusted by a variable resistor R2. Signals from the switches N, P actuate pulse generators A, Z, causing compensation condensers to be switched respectively out of and into the network. The pulses pass to bistable multivibrators K1-5 controlling relays H1-5, S1-5 connected to the compensation condensers. The multivibrator inputs are interconnected through capacitors and AND gates L1-8 in such a way that a first pulse from generator Z switches on multivibrator K1, a second pulse actuates multivibrator K2, and so on. Similarly, if condensers are to be taken out of circuit, pulses from generator A switch off the multivibrators in sequence beginning with multivibrator K1. The capacity of the condensers controlled by the multivibrators K1-5 may be in a ratio such as 1:2:3:4:6, enabling any required capacity to be connected in circuit through combination switching by pulses from generators A, Z.
