Abstract
1407976 Metal lintels CATNIC COMPONENTS LTD 21 Aug 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 41714/ 71 Heading E1K A metal lintel 1 comprises a member 2 of channel form whose base 4 is adapted to support a course of bricks or blocks of about the same width as the lintel, the limbs 3 of the channel having bent-out flanges 5 and a continuous plate 6 extending across the length of the open side of the channel being secured to the flanges 5, plate 6 resting on a course of bricks or blocks (not shown). Expanded metal 6a, 6b is wrapped around the base 4 and limbs 3 to assist keying. In a modification (Figs 2 and 3, not shown), the continuous plate 6 is replaced by two plates at the ends only of the lintel, the remainder of which is of open channel form, with the flanges resting on the course of bricks or blocks beneath the lintel.
