Abstract

1399921 Sizing inorganic fibrous materials UNITED STATES GYPSUM CO 29 Aug 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 40055/72 Heading D2B A method of sizing inorganic fibrous materials comprises adding a non-cationic waxasphalt emulsion to a slurry of the fibrous materials prior to sheet formation. The emulsion may contain casein as emulsifier. Fillers such as clay or perlite (R.T.M.) and a fireresistant material e.g. sodium borate may be present in the slurry. The inorganic fibrous material may be mineral, glass, or rock wool, or ceramic fibres. Boards formed from the slurry are water-resistant. Kraft gel may be added to the slurry. [GB1399921A]
