Abstract
1372125 Texturing and drawing yarns BAYER AG 1 Sept 1972 [8 Sept 1971] 40573/ 72 Heading D1F In the production of textured yarn a running multifilamentary yarn (or tow or bundle) of continuous unstretched polyester filaments is successively and continuously stretched with draw ratio of 1:1.20 to 1:3.80 whilst at a temperature of 90-170C, cooled, reheated and false-twisted and further stretched and fixed at a temperature of 160-230C so that the total draw ratio is 1:2.50 to 1:4.50. Optionally a dressing or finish is applied and the resultant yarn is taken-up as a wound package. As shown, yarn 2 passes over a deflecting device to a delivery cylinder 3 (associated with a pressure cylinder 4 and deflecting roller 5) thence over contact heater 9 to delivery cylinder 6 (associated with a pressure cylinder 7 and deflecting roller 8) thereby effecting the first stretching operation, the rollers 6, 7, 8 also cooling the yarn. False twist is applied by an internal friction falsetwister 11 and fixed by contact with heater 10. Yarn is conveyed to draw-off roller system 12, treated with dressing from a device 13 and formed into a cap 14, the second stretching being effected between rollers 12 and 6, 7, 8.
