Abstract
1419117 Shampoos UNILEVER Ltd 4 Dec 1972 [6 Dec 1971] 55835/72 Heading C5D An aqueous shampoo for imparting body and set retention effects to hair comprises (A) an aqueous solution of a surfactant, (B) a resinous material which is insoluble in the aqueous surfactant solution and in water, and (C) a watermiscible cosmetically acceptable organic solvent for the resinous material, the resinous material being deposited on to the hair on dilution of the shampoo during shampooing. Resins (B) may be polyvinyl ethyl resin, alkyd resins, polyketone resins, polyvinylacetate resins, acrylic resins, sucrose acetate isobutyrate, wood resins according to Specification 1,419,116 or mixtures thereof. The resins may be mixed with bodying and hair conditioning agents such as cocoamide, ethoxylated lanolin, stearylamide, ethoxylated higher fatty alcohols, mineral oils and cetylated castor oil. Solvents (C) are aliphatic alcohols, glycols and glycol ethers, glycerol. Surfactants (A) may be a sulphated C 12 -C 21 fatty alcohol or alcohol ether, dodecylbenzene sulphonate, soap, non-ionic surfactants or cationic surfactants such as cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, or suitable mixtures thereof.
