Abstract

1395086 Curtain wall or panelling framework structure AMERICAN METAL CLIMAX Inc 2 Aug 1972 [3 Aug 1971] 36154/72 Headings E1J and E1W Spaced vertical mullions 67 comprises two snap fastening interconnecting metal sections 67c, 67b. The composite mullions form part of a wall framework together with elongate transoms 63 which extend across the width of the wall structure. The lower transom 63 engages a cill 61 secured to the building structure. Upper transoms are secured at their ends to the side framework members of the wall and are supported between their ends on the profiled upper end 106 of the clip on vertical mullion section 67b. Glazing or opaque panels may be fixed by conventional resilient glazing strips or mastic into the edge channels of the sections 67b and 63. Heat insulation may be provided between the two interconnecting sections 67b and 67c and in the transoms, Figs. 48, 49 (not shown). Expansion joints may be incorporated in both the transoms and the mullions which take the form of resilient blocks, Figs. 20-28 (not shown).
