Abstract
1422015 Resolution of 2-(6-methoxy-2- naphthyl)propionic acid SYNTEX CORP 18 April 1973 [21 April 1972 11 April 1973] 18815/73 Heading C2C 2 - (6 - Methoxy - 2 - naphthyl) - propionic acid is resolved by (a) preparing a mixture of cinchonidine, an inorganic base of pka greater than 8, d and l 2-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)- propionic acid and an inert organic solvent in which the cinchonidine salt of l 2-(6-methoxy- 2-naphthyl)propionic acid and inorganic base salts of the said d and I acids are soluble in which the cinchonidine salt of d 2-(6-methoxy-2- naphthyl)propionic acid is less soluble than the l form and in which the solubility of the inorganic base salts of the said d and l acids is greater than that of the cinchonidine salts of the said d and l acids; and (b) crystallizing the cinchonidine salts of d and l 2-(6-methoxy-2- naphthyl)propionic acid from the mixture to yield a salt product enriched in the d isomer.
