1392143 Benzodiazepines DR KARL THOMAE GmbH 11 July 1973 [12 July 1972 15 May 1973 25 May 1973] 33072/73 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1 , 2 = H, C 1-5 alkyl or alkenyl optionally substituted by furyl, dialkylamino, OH, carbalkoxy or carbamido, cycloalkyl, Ph or NR 1 R 2 =pyrrolidino, piperidino, hexamethyleneimino, morpholino, thiamorpholino, thiamorpholine S- oxido, N-alkylpiperazino; R 3 =halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 ;R 4 =H, halogen, CF 3 ;R 5 =H alkyi, cycloalkylmethyl, alkylaminoalkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, trifluoromethylalkyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) introducing the 3- substituent, (b) dehydrogenating the corresponding 3-R 1 R 2 NCH 2 - compound or (c) reacting a 3-dialkoxymethyl or hydroxymethylene compound with R 1 R 2 NH, optionally followed by salt formation in each case. The above compounds are sedatives, tranquillizers, muscle relaxants and anticonvulsants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with the carrier.
