Abstract

1438286 Single cell protein feedstuff BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 14 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 39941/72 Heading A2B An animal feed stuff comprises a free flowing composition containing a single cell protein and 15-80% by wt. of a lipid. The single cell protein may be whole or ruptured microorganisms or the protein isolated therefrom. The microorganism may be a yeast which feeds on hydrocarbons e.g. Candida tropicalis or lipolytica. The lipid may be corn oil, tallow, palm oil or ground nut oil. The composition may be prepared by forming an aq. suspension of the microorganism, adding the lipid, emulsifying the suspension and then drying the emulsion. The emulsion may be spray or drum dried at 70-400‹C. [GB1438286A]
