1415106 Benzamide production SOC D'- ETUDES SCIENTIFIQUES ET INDUSTRIELLES DE L'ILE-DE-FRANCE 15 Nov 1973 [22 Nov 1972] 53130/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises a method of preparing a therapeutic benzamide of the general formula in which A is a radical with at least two amine functions, one of which is capable of being bonded to the acyl function and at least one other of which is tertiary, Z is a C 1-5 alkyl or C 2-5 alkenyl radical and X is an alkyl, amino or aminoalkyl radical, that comprises reacting an amino compound of the general formula where A is as defined above with a halogen phosphite of general formula where R 1 is an alkoxy or phenyloxy group, R 2 is a halogen atom and R 3 is a halogen atom or hydroxy, alkoxy or phenyloxy group, or R 1 and R 3 are bonded to form an alkylenedioxy or o-phenylenedioxy group, to produce a phosphorus compound of general formula or R 1 P=A, in which A and R 1 are as defined above and R 4 is an alkoxy or phenyloxy group, or is bonded with R 1 to form an alkylenedioxy or o-phenylenedioxy group, or is an amino radical of formula where A is as defined above; and heating the phosphorus compound with a benzoic acid compound of general formula in which Z and X are as defined above to produce the desired benzamide. The examples describe the preparation of N - (diethylaminoethyl) - 2 - methoxy - 5 - methylsulphonyl - benzamide and N - (1 - ethyl - 2- pyrrolidylmethyl) - 2 - methoxy - 5 - ethylsulphonyl and -5-sulphamoyl-bemamides.
