Abstract
1423393 Moulding garments IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 Feb 1974 [20 March 1973] 13301/73 Heading A3V A former for moulding a garment shape from a fabric comprises at least four interconnected tubular members 1-4. Side tubes 5, 6 are also provided. The axes of the tubes define a quadrilateral at the chest plane, a quadrilateral, pentagon or hexagon at the waist plane, and a hexagon at the hip plane. The tubes are slidably arranged on a base 12 around a central pillar 13. The tubes are contoured to the general outline of the human form, and are arranged to conform to an individuals measurements. Tubes 20 at the top of the pillar define the shoulders. To improve the bust shaping short tubes are mounted on spheres at the top of the front tubes 1, 2. Preforms used may be of natural or synthetic e.g. thermoplastic yarns. The former may be moulded by resinous materials or by breaking and reforming chemical bonds within the fibres. The latter may be moulded by heating.
