Abstract

1470250 Aluminosilicate detergency builder PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 15 July 1974 [16 July 1973 (3)] 31238/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division C1] A detergent composition capable of rapidly reducing the free polyvalent metal ion content of an aqueous solution comprises 5-95% by weight of an amorphous, water-insoluble, hydrated aluminosilicate ion-exchange builder material, Na x (xAlO 2 .SiO 2 ) where x=1-1À2, having a Mg<SP>++</SP> exchange capacity of at least 50 mg, e.g. CaCO 3 /g. (anhydrous basis) and having a Ca<SP>++</SP> exchange capacity of at least 200 mg, e.g. CaCO 3 /g. (anhydrous basis) and 95-5% by weight of a water-soluble organic detergent of one or more anionic, non-ionic, ampholytic or zwitterionic detergents. The detergent composition may also contain 5-50% by weight of an auxiliary water-soluble detergency builder (preferably Na or K tripolyphosphate or P-free builder, e.g. inorganic carbonate, bicarbonate, silicate or organic polyacetates, carboxylates, polycarboxylates or polyhydroxysulphonates). The detergent composition may also contain 0À1-3% by weight of a polyethylene glycol of M.wt. 400-8000. A detergent composition is also based on the mixed amorphous-crystalline aluminosilicate (see Division C1) together with 5-95% of a water-soluble organic detergent as above.
