Abstract

1458216 Refractory lining C B MURTON 13 Dec 1973 [4 Jan 1973] 57729/73 Heading C1J [Also in Divisions C3 and F4] A refractory lining material for relining metallurgical vessels has a composition consisting essentially, by weight, of ¢-4% of particles of sodium or potassium silicate or a mixture thereof, 12-72% of quartzite particles, ¢-4% of an organic binder having a melting point of 250-400‹ F., and 20-80% of clay particles. A preferred material has a composition consisting essentially of 2% of sodium or potassium silicate, 2% organic binder, 36% quartzite particles and 60% clay. The organic binder may be pitch, tar, rosin, polyvinyl chloride or polytetrachloroethylene. The metallurgical vessel may be a furnace or ladle. [GB1458216A]
