Abstract
1492837 Sustained release insulin preparations HOECHST AG 7 April 1975 [13 April 1974 17 Dec 1974] 14079/75 Heading A5B Sustained release insulin preparations comprise (1) an aqueous medium, (2) a crystalline insulin, (3) dissolved des-phenylalanine <SP>B1</SP>-insulin of the same species and (4) 25 to 80 meg of zinc ion per 100 I.U. of insulin. The insulin and insulin derivative may be bovine or porcine. The zinc ion may be present as zinc chloride. The preparation may be made by mixing a suspension of insulin crystals containing zinc ion with a solution of des-phenylalanine-insulin also containing zinc ions and adjusting the pH to the required range.
