Abstract
1448660 Sulphoglycopeptides CRINOS INDUSTRIA FARMACOBIOLOGICA SpA 23 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 22932/75 Heading C3H Starting from amixture of a glycopeptide extracted from milk or casein, (b) an aprotic, non-aromatic, water-miscible solvent (c) a tertiary base having a boiling point of from 100-250‹ C. and (d) a sulphonating agent selected from sulphuric acid, oleum, chlorosulphonic acid and an adduct of sulphur tinoxide and an organic compound, sulphoglycopeptides are made by maintaining an initial temperature at contact between the glycopeptide and the sulphonating agent of from about - 20‹ to 20‹ C., raising the temperature to a range of from about 60‹ C. to about 90‹ C. and recovering the resulting sulphoglycopeptide. If desired the resulting sulphoglycopeptide may be further reacted with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide or ammonium hydroxide to convert the sulphoglycopeptide to its corresponding salt which may thereafter be precipiaated by addition of acetone on methanol. Such salts may be ionexchanged with Zn<SP>++</SP>, Ca<SP>++</SP>, Ba<SP>++</SP>, Sr<SP>++</SP>, Cu<SP>++</SP>, Ni<SP>++</SP>, Co<SP>++</SP>, Mg<SP>++</SP>, Bi<SP>++</SP>, Au<SP>+</SP> or Al<SP>+++</SP> by passage through a cation exchange resin.
