Abstract

An item of underwear, especially ladies' panties, has a crotch insert provided with an odour-absorbing compound and made of a soft fabric having comparatively uniformly small pores and an air permeability of at least 3 litres/cm<2> per min at a pressure differential of 12.7 mm water column; the crotch insert is connected to a hip carrier which can hold the crotch insert above the crotch region; this permits venting of the crotch region with absorption of odour from the ventilation air.
