Abstract
1521567 Plastics compositions containing phenolic antioxidants HOECHST AG 30 Sept 1976 [2 Oct 1975] 40613/76 Heading C3K [Also in Division C2] A plastics composition comprises as stabilizer, a compound of the formula:- in which n is 1, 2, or 3, A is the radical of a linear or branched alkane having I or 3-19 carbon atoms, of a cycloaliphatic, optionally alkyl-substituted, alkane (C5-15), of an aralkane (C7-15) or an alkene (C2-19), each of R<1> and R<2> is hydrogen or alkyl (C1-4), and K<n+1> is H<+>, a cation of the lst, 2nd or 3rd main group of the Periodic Table, a rare earth metal cation, a transition metal cation or the organo-ammonium ion of an alkyl-substituted amine or mono-, bi- or tricyclic aliphatic amine. The specific Example describes the stabilization of polypropylene with the Ni<2+>, Zn<2+> and Cu<2+> salt of 3,3-bis-(4<1>-hydroxy-3<1>-tert.butylphenyl)- butyric acid, the Ni<2+> and Zn<2+> salt of 4,4-bis- (4<1>-hydroxyphenyl)-pentanoic acid; and 4,4- bis-(4<1>-hydroxyphenyl)-pentanoic acid. Conventional antioxidants such as DLDTP may also be present.
