Abstract
1512741 Kaolin poultices K/L (PHARMACEUTICAL) Ltd 8 March 1977 [13 March 1976] 10136/76 Heading A5R [Also in Division B8] A prepacked kaolin poultice dressing comprises a predetermined quantity of kaolin 7 sandwiched between a metallic foil 2 and a heat sealable film material I, and a coating 14 of biologically inert lubricant being interposed between the kaolin and the heat sealable film material to provide for easy separation of the film material from the kaolin, the metallic foil and the film material being heat sealed adjacent the perimeter of the kaolin. The heat sealable film material and the metallic foil are first heat sealed together around three sides and the kaolin is then extruded from a filling machine through a nozzle having an elongated opening, coated on one side with lubricant, such as petroleum jelly, and filled into the pouch formed by the sealed sheets, the fourth side of the pouch then being sealed. The lubricant may be held on one of the flattened surfaces of the nozzle and is then deposited as a layer on the film material as the nozzle is inserted into the pouch, the lubricant being renewed on the nozzle thereafter. Alternatively the kaolin may be extruded onto the metallic foil, the exposed kaolin surface coated with lubricant and the film material then superimposed and heat-sealed. The film material may be metallic foil or a polyester.
