Abstract

1. An image printing bar for digitally printing images on a electrosensitive paper which is scanned in successive lines by said bar, comprising as many mutually insulated styli (1, 2; 11, 12; 11', 12'; 31, 32; 31', 32'; 51, 52; 51', 52'; 51", 52"; 311, 311'), forming a stylus area on said bar, as there are image points in each scanning line, and comprising a shift register type memory which receives data defining the image points and which has a shift control input, data feed inputs and parallel outputs in order to control individually the said styli during a print control, thereby marking said image points on said paper, characterized in that said memory consists of 2 m register chips each having n storage stages (5, 6; 15, 16; 35, 36; 35', 36'; 59, 60; 59', 60'; 59", 60"; 320), each chip having a serial data input, n parallel outputs, a serial data output and control inputs such as a clock input for controlling the data shift from one stage to the next one, two feed inputs defining two voltage levels corresponding to the data levels, and an inhibition input for inhibiting its n parallel outputs, m and n being integers such that the product 2 . m . n is at least equal to the number of styli, said chips being supported on at least one film (30, 40; 30', 40'; 57, 58; 57', 58'; 57", 58"; 302, 302') and connected in series m by m in such a way that on the one hand the clock inputs, on the other hand the inhibition inputs and moreover the feed inputs are branched in parallel and constitute two separate shift registers each having a serial data input, m . n parallel outputs, at least some of which, constituting the "useful" parallel outputs of the respective m register chips, are connected to styli of like rank in said stylus area, that means that respective registers are connected to odd ranked styli and to even ranked styli respectively in the stylus area.
