Abstract

A polygonal cutting insert has an upper surface comprising two land areas 9, 13 located inwardly of a cutting edge. A descending wall 11 connects a first land 9 adjacent the cutting edge 7 and a secondary land 13 located below the cutting edge and joining a secondary descending wall 15 which joins a sloping floor 17 extending toward the center of the insert. The sloping floor descends, both as it extends toward the center of the insert, and as it extends away from the nearest corner parallel to the side of the polygonal insert. <IMAGE> [GB2093379A]
