Abstract

The moulding, especially for use in motor vehicles, for example as a door panel, parcel tray, engine bonnet, engine shield or the like, consists of a self-supporting, preformed and compressed component, (1) particularly, one which is joined, on at least one side, to a non-rigid component (2). In a moulding method, the material for forming the self-supporting component is laid the mould (4) surface, then covered with a gas impermeable layer (3) which is further covered with the non-rigid component. The layered body is heated and pressed against the mould surface by excess or reduced gas pressure. The process enables combination of a self-supporting component with a sound-absorbing layer. <IMAGE> [DE3903471A1]
