An Office Building Construction The present invention relates to an office building construction.

According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction comprising front and rear and left and right side walls, said walls defining a floor area including an elongate central floor area comprising a series of adjacent wide and narrow portions, each portion including a workspace module comprising a plurality of individual workspace units.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a plan view of an office building construction according to the invention.

Referring now to the drawing, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 10 comprises front and rear walls 11,12 and left and right side walls 13,14 respectively defining a floor area 90. - 2 A pair of large workspace areas 18,19 are located opposite one another towards the right side wall 14 and adjacent front and rear walls 11,12 respectively. A large workspace 20 is located adjacent a mid-portion of the front wall 11, one side of which abuts workspace 18, the other side of which communicates with an adjacent smaller workspace 20' through a door 20.

A secure area 22 is located adjacent a mid-portion of the rear wall 12. An access area 23 is located between the secure area 22 and the workspace area 19 and communicates with the secure area 22 through a door 22'. The access area 23 includes a plurality of partitions 25. Each partition 25 is formed of a number of panels which are linked to define a plurality of individual workspaces 23*. The access area 23 communicates with the central floor area 90 through doors 26.

The outlines of areas 18,20/20' and 19,23 are substantially 'b' and 'd' shaped respectively, being relatively wider at the end nearer the left side wall 13, thus providing a pair of recess areas 31 where areas 18,20 and 19,23 abut. A pair of office areas 30 accessible directly from the central floor area 90 are provided in each of the recess areas 31. Each of workspaces 18,19,20 communicates with the central floor area 90 through passageways 21 located at the left and right sides of the recess areas 31.

A pair of washroom facilities 40 are located opposite one another towards the left side wall 13 and adjacent front and rear walls 11,12. General areas 35 are located at the left corners of the front and side walls 11,12 and between the front washroom facility 40 and the workspace 20'. The general areas 35 and the washroom facilities 40 occupy the same depth as the narrow portions of areas 18,19,20,23. Communal refreshment areas 50 are provided adjacent washroom facilities 40.

Thus, the central floor area 90 comprises a series of open plan workspace modules 65,75,70,60,80,85 respectively located between: a. the opposite narrow portions of areas 18,19 b. the opposite wide portions of areas18,19 c. the opposite wide portions of areas20,23 d. opposite areas 22 and 35. e. opposite refreshment areas50 f. opposite general areas 35 Each workspace module is formed from partitions comprising panels which define a plurality of individual workspaces 65’,75',70’,601,80’,85’. Workspace module 60 comprises a substantially 'X'-shaped partition 61 the front and rear facing portions of which incorporate the workspaces 60·. Workspace module 65 also includes a substantially X-shaped partition 62, part of which is truncated by the right side wall 14.

The outlines of both modules 70,75 are substantially Ύ'-shaped, each module 70,75 including a plurality of individual workspaces 70',75' respectively, disposed around the inwardly facing sides of the modules 70,75.

CLAIMS:

1. An office building construction comprising front and rear and left and right side walls, said walls defining 5 a floor area including an elongate central floor area comprising a series of adjacent wide and narrow portions, each portion including a workspace module comprising a plurality of individual workspace units. 10
