Abstract
A workstation (10) comprising a plurality of workgroups (12) and an end unit (14). Each workgroup (12) comprises a plurality of workmodules (16), defined by one or more substantially U-shaped partition members (20, 24), and storage units (17). The end unit (14) comprises a plurality of workmodules (16) and utility units (22). The workmodules (16) are arranged into a first and a second row (18) which face away from and in an opposite direction to each other. The workgroups (12) are positioned with at least one of their rows (18) juxtaposed a row (18) of another workgroup (12).
Description
The present invention relates to a workstation. In particular this invention relates to a workstation for use in an office building floor area.
According to the present invention there is provided a workstation comprising a plurality of workgroups, each including a plurality of workmodules defined by one or more substantially U-shaped partition members and at least one storage unit and an end unit comprising a plurality of workmodules and utility units.
Preferably, said workgroups comprise eight workmodules and two storage units, said workmodules and storage units being arranged into a first and a second row, each row conprising four workmodules and one storage unit.
More preferably, said first row faces away from and in an opposite direction to said second row.
Advantageously, said workgroups are positioned with at least one of said rows juxtaposed a row of another workgroup.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring now to the drawing, there is shown a
965655 workstation generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The workstation 10 comprises a plurality of workgroups 12 and an end unit 14.

Each workgroup 12 comprises eight workmodules 16 and two storage units 17 arranged into two rows 18 comprising four workmodules 16 and one storage unit 17. Each row 18 is arranged as two groups of two workmodules 16, spaced apart by a storage unit 17. Each workmodule 16 is separated from any adjacent workmodule by an internal partition member 19. The workmodules 16 in one row 18 of a workgroup 12 face away from and in an opposite direction to the workmodules 16 in the other row 18. The two rows 18 are joined to each other at one end by a spacing partition member 20. An external partition member 24, which is disposed parallel to the rows 18, is used to separate neighbouring workgroups 12. Thus, each workgroup 12 is defined by substantially U-shaped partition member.
The end unit 14 comprises a row of utility units 22, located behind a row 18 of workmodules 16 with storage unit 17, as described above.
Each workgroup 12 is positioned with at least one of its rows 18 juxtaposed a row 18 of another workgroup 12.
The end unit 14 is appended to a workgroup 12 at one of the ends of the workstation 10. The end unit 14 is positioned with its row 18 juxtaposed the row 18 at the free side of the workgroup 12.

Typically, a workstation 10 comprises three workgroups and one end unit 14.
Claims (5)
1. A workstation comprising a plurality of workgroups, * each including a plurality of workmodules defined by one 5 or more substantially U-shaped partition members and at least one storage unit and an end unit comprising a plurality of workmodules and utility units.
2. A workstation as claimed in claim 1 in which said 10 workgroups comprise eight workmodules and two storage units, said workmodules and storage units being arranged into a first and a second row, each row comprising four workmodules and one storage unit. 15
3. A workstation as claimed in claim 1 or 2 in which said first row faces away from and in an opposite direction to said second row.
4. A workstation as claimed in any one of claims 1, 2 20 or 3 in which said workgroups are positioned with at least one of said rows juxtaposed a row of another workgroup.
5. A workstation substantially as hereinbefore 25 described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
