Abstract

A device for displaying advertising material and supporting containers for items, for example glass bottles and jars, to be recycled comprises a framework (1) of horizontal bars (2,3) upon the containers, for example five in number, may be disposed. Upstanding members (6, 7, 9) are secured to the framework (1) and advertising material may be mounted on these members (6, 7, 9). The advertising material may be on advertising panels (10, 11). <Figure 1>

Description

TRUE { LODGED PPA 1065 This invention relates to advertising at a site for depositing items for re-cycling.
According to the invention, there is provided a device 5 for displaying advertising material and supporting containers for items to be re-cycled, comprising a framework of horizontal bars upon which the containers may be disposed and upstanding members secured to the framework upon which advertising material may be mounted.
Examples in accordance with the invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which :15 Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a device for supporting four or five containers for items to be re-cycled and three advertising panels, i I.
Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a similar device for supporting three or four such containers and shows Οη | also three advertising panels, c·; \ ? X? * 1:7 3 <ϊ· ) Figure 3 shows a similar device supporting four (*> i : 4 y 251 ’’ containers and three advertising panels, ♦ > < q ; Figures 4 and 5 show plan views of similar devices Cq ’· supporting three and four containers respectively and , three advertising panels in both cases, '· ί r T IE 970662 Figure 6 shows a plan view of a modified device supporting three containers in a straight line and two more offset from that line, and Figure 7 shows diagrammatically a front elevation of part of a device for supporting three containers on sloping ground.
The device shown in Figure 1 comprises a framework 1 of horizontal bars, ie bars 2 connected end-to-end to provide two long composite bars extending along the device, bars 2A parallel to the bars 2 at both ends of the device, and bars 3 extending perpendicularly to the bars 2, the perpendicularity being ensured by triangular gusset plates 4 fixed to the bars. Further bars 5 are superposed on the framework and serve to locate containers when they are stood on the framework.
Upstanding members are secured to the framework and comprise two cranked bars 6 at one end of the device, two straight bars 7 at the other end of the device, and coupled to the framework 1 by further bars 8, and two more cranked bars 9 at one side of the device, these being much longer than the bars 6.
The horizontal bars and/or the upstanding bars may conveniently be channel members of light-weight material and adjacent bars 2 may be coupled together by a rod inserted into the open ends of the two bars.
Figure 2 shows a shorter device in principle like that shown in Figure 1, with two similar advertising panels mounted on the bars 6 and 7 and a larger and higher advertising panel 11 mounted on the bars 9. The IE 970662 panels may be internally illuminated or they may have paper posters stuck to them. They may be so-called superlite panels. Decorative cladding 12 conceals the bars 6 to 9.
The assembly shown in Figure 2 is shown again in Figure 3, this time with the addition of a straight line or row of four containers 15 made of steel or plastics material resting on the framework 1, for example for glass bottles and jars of differing colours, or for glass articles, metal cans, paper and rags, ie different items to be re-cycled, which are put into the containers by members of the public through narrow openings at or near the tops of the containers. In the illustrated case, the narrow openings are formed in hinged lids 16, which cover much wider openings through which the items may leave the containers.
There could be only three containers placed on the framework 1 of Figure 2, ie a wide central container and two narrower ones on opposite sides of it.
Likewise, the device of Figure 1 could receive five similar containers or three similar containers and one wider container.
Figures 4 and 5 show that the panels 10 do not have to be centrally located with respect to the ends of the row of containers. The panel 11 likewise does not have to be centrally located with respect to the side of the row of containers. Preferably, the upstanding members 6, 7 and 9 may be moved along bars in the framework 1 and fixed in their desired positions.
IE 970662 There could be only two containers 15 in the assembly. Another possibility is to have a straight line or row of two, three or more containers with, at one end or at each end of the row, another container offset from the row. If there is an offset container at each end of the row, these two could be offset in opposite directions from the row, as shown in Figure 6, where the row comprises three containers although it could comprise more or only two.
If the ground on which the framework 1 is to stand is sloping such that it is higher at the left-hand end of the row of containers than at the right-hand end, the framework could be modified as shown in Figure 7 to include two opposite longitudinal bars 20 (one at the front of the row and one at the back), two more longitudinal bars 21 lying in a lower plane and two more longitudinal bars 22 lying in a plane which is lower still. Thus the bottoms of the containers are all horizontal but at differing levels.
The bars 2, 2A and 3 of Figure 1 form a number of rectangular apertures, which could be closed by panels 19 as shown in Figure 2, supported by the gusset plates 4 and by other means not shown.
