Abstract

A method of punching elongated rectangular openings in hollow extruded profiled bars, the opening extending between two opposite bar walls, and to a length (A) along one of the other walls, the method comprising the steps of - (a) punching an initial opening of a length less than (A), using a male rectangular cutting die without a counter female die placed within the hollow of the bar (J); (b) trimming one side portion of the initial opening using an edge cutting die which is inserted into the opening and worked outwardly from the hollow of the bar; and (c) trimming the opposite side portion of the initial opening using an edge cutting die which is inserted into the opening and worked outwardly from the hollow of the bar, so that the combined lengths of the initial opening and of the trimmed portions equals (A). This specification was examined in accordance with regulation 35 of the Patent Regulations, 5728-1968.
