Abstract

The surface treated steel sheet for a container according to the present invention is a surface treated steel sheet in which one or both sides of the steel sheet surface is nickel plated the nickel plating having a fine granular morphology in which the particle density is 2-500 particles/µm2 and the average particle diameter is 0.05-0.7 µm. The present invention is characterized in that the deposited amount of the nickel plating of the surface treated steel sheet for a container is 0.1 12-g/m2 the nickel plating film contains metallic tin and the amount of the metallic tin is 0.05-0.1 g/m2. The present invention is also characterized in that the organic resin coated surface treated steel sheet is obtained by coating one or both sides of the surface treated steel sheet for a container with an organic resin layer and the metal can is obtained by processing the organic resin coated surface treated steel sheet.
