Abstract
Fibre treatment agents contain 1-99% of cpds. of formula (I) In (I) R1 is mono-, di- or trialkylphenyl, in which the total number of C in the alkyl gps. attache to the Ph gp. is 6-12, and/or a trimethylsilyl gp. R2 is 1-16C alkyl. opt. interrupted by -O-CO- or -CO-O- gps. and/or a gp. Ma-O-R3 in which R3 is a mono-, di- or trialkylphenyl gp. in which the total number of C atoms in the alkyl gps. attached to the phenyl gp. is 6-12, and/or a gp. -CH(CH3)-C6H5, R4 is a 1-16C alkyl gp. and/or a gp. -O- Si(CH3)(r2)-O- n Ma-O-R1, M is a 1-3C alkylene gp. n = 2.5-15, m = 0-5, and a = 0 or 1. On average, the molecule contains 5-30 Si atoms, of which at most 20% are atoms Sior trialkylphenyl gps. The compsn. is made up with 99-1 wt % known components for fibre treatment prepns. Prods. are esp. useful for treating melt spun polyester filaments before stretching giving excellent anti-friction and antistatic properties. Prods. are heat stable and do not yellow or form fels on heating, e.g. during heat fixing of the stretched fibre.
