Abstract

The butterfly valve (10) includes a resilient liner mounted in the valve body (12) to define an internal flow path (18) between upstream and downstream faces of an annular, valve-seating ring (122). The valve includes a butterfly disc (26) pivotally movable on a stem or axle (28) extending transversely across the flow passage within the ring. The pivot axis (30) pref. lies on a central plane (34) midway between opposite faces (122a) of the ring. The ring has two seating surfaces (124,126) which coact with respective peripheral edge portions (26a) of the valve disc when the valve is closed.
