Abstract

The heated windshield (10) is made up of a pair of glass plates (15, 16) separated by an air gap (17) into which a wafer is inserted that includes an internal heating element (18) between two sheets of polymerical material (23, 24). The element (18) is made up of a multilayer electricity-resistant casing supported by a sheet (19) of transparent plastic. The resistant casing is made up of one layer (21) of metallic material placed between two external layers (22) of semi-conductive material. The metallic layer (21) conforms with its increasing thickness along the height of the windshield to provide more heat to the lower area of the windshield (26). Even the semiconductor layers (22) can have an increasing thickness to increase the overall transmission of light through the windshield. The metal layer (21) is connected to the horizontal and vertical electrodes or to many pairs of electrodes (28, 29) placed on the two sides of the windshield. They are battery-powered (33) though two tension or current regulators (33, 34). (Fig. 2)
