Abstract

Procedimento per produrre lana di vetro nella forma di piccole masse di forma irregolare che devono venire insufflate ad umido per formare un isolamento termico, il quale procedimento comprende gli stadi di formare vetro fuso in filamenti, raccogliere i filamenti di vetro come un complesso di lana di vetro su un trasportatore quando essi vengono spruzzati con un agente di trattamento che non ha proprietà legante ma che ha proprietà di respingere acqua e di tenuta di polvere, evaporare il contenuto di umidità dell'agente di trattamento alimentato al complesso di lana di vetro, tagliare a pezzetti il complesso di lana di vetro in piccole masse di forma irregolare con una macchina spezzettatrice di Garnett e trasferire le piccole masse ad uno stadio di confezionamento. Una miscela di paraffina liquida e silicone viene impiegata come agente di trattamento in combinazione con acqua e il deposito di paraffina liquida e di silicone dopo riscaldamento ed essiccamento viene regolato per situarsi entro un intervallo di 0,5 - 3,0 del peso dei filamenti di vetro.
