Abstract

La presente invenzione si riferisce a un gene precedentemente non noto, appartenente alla famiglia delle pentaxine, che è inducibile da una o più citochine, e la cui espressione non è limitata ad epatociti, l'mRNA essendo abbondante in cellule fibroblastiche ed endoteliali attivate da citochine, e il gene essendo fortemente indotto da TNfa e IL-1, ma non da IL-6 (l'induttore principale di SAP e CRP), cosicché l'analisi del prodotto d'espressione può fornire un'indicazione indipendente di stress tissutale nella maggior parte di tipi di tessuto.
