La presente invenzione riguarda derivati acilati allo zolfo della L-piroglutammilL-cisteina di formula (I) (FORMULA I) dove R è un alchile lineare avente da 1 a 6 atomi di carbonio e i loro sali farmaceuticamente accettabili, il loro procedimento di preparazione e le composizioni farmaceutiche che li contengono. Tali derivati sono utili nel trattamento di malattie connesse ad una carenza di glutatione.
