Il riempimento di una sigaretta (3) viene controllato rilevando una curva (18; 37) di luminosità di almeno una parte di una estremità aperta della sigaretta (3) stessa, elaborando la curva (18; 37) di luminosità ottenuta per ricavarne un indice di contrasto, e confrontando l'indice di contrasto ottenuto con un equivalente indice di una sigaretta (3) correttamente riempita per ottenere un segnale di accettabilità della sigaretta (3) in osservazione.(Figura 1)
