DESCRIZIONE DESCRIPTION
Self-stabilizing kinetic turbine, with different concentric hydrodynamic sectors, intended for energy conversion plants from tidal and / or river water currents.
The water currents present in rivers are generated by the movement of water masses within artificial or natural canals, generated by the gravitational effect produced by the altitude differences present along the bed of their paths. Unlike these river currents, tidal currents are generated by the deformation of the sea level due to the combined gravitational attraction of the Sun and the Moon, which occurs with regular periodic (in general it manifests itself with repetition over 24 h 50 minutes), corresponding to the average lunar day, of two rises (flow or high tide) and two lowerings (ebb or low tide) of the sea level. The two flows and the two ebbs alternate approximately every six hours, generating two currents of opposite direction (marine or tidal currents), present in particular aquatic environments often falling near the coasts or in the estuaries of large rivers. In Europe alone, the availability of energy that can be produced by water currents is approximately 59 TWh (TeraWatt hours equivalent to 59 billion Kilowatt hours). Sea currents, unlike the tides (used to produce energy with the large basins of tidal power stations), are comparable to immense rivers that flow at speeds that in some areas can reach and exceed 5 m / s, due to the coastal conformation, of sea channels, straits, islands, etc. The technology for the use of this very important energy source is based on the use of machines that convert the kinetic potential energy of water currents into mechanical energy, subsequently, by means of the well-known (generator, transformer, etc.), further transformed into electric energy. The conversion of kinetic energy into mechanical energy is carried out with mechanical devices, belonging to the class of "kinetic turbines", designed to operate in water currents without the need to take advantage of a jump. The techniques for the construction of the plants in this specific sector are under development, due to the impediments caused by the need to place the anchoring and sealing works of the turbines inside the water currents, respecting the constraints imposed to protect the natural contexts concerned. Although the similarity of the argued kinetic interceptors is significant compared to those widely used in the wind sector, (in strong expansion), the works necessary for the sealing of kinetic machines in water currents, are not comparable to the widespread application practice of structural works in the sector wind power, due to the enormous difference between the intensity of the drag forces that develop on the water rotors compared to wind power. A circular rotor of five meters in diameter, equipped with accessories, develops up to about five tons of drag force when crossing the water at 2.5 m / s of speed. The sealing works of the most common marine turbines consist of structures placed in the sea near the rotors, anchored in various ways to the seabed, to counteract the enormous drag forces that can easily reach several tens of tons in small plants. Floating bases aimed at supporting the argued turbines are rarer, which have led to problems both for the necessary ballasting works and for the detection of production inefficiencies deriving from instability at the rotor axes in the presence of wave motion. In all cases, the systems in the sector have the problem of the structural grandeur of the sealing works and consequently of their location within the same water streams. In fact, the construction of these works, due to the size and the location, requires the use of special marine equipment as well as the passage of electrical cables in the seabed, with high construction costs and high incompatibility with various constraints, limiting the diffusion and plant development. The demonstration of what has been stated is given by the countless presence of potentially excellent sites to incorporate the argued type of plants, which still remain free, despite the growing need to use this very important renewable source and the well-known techniques to make the rotors intended for efficient use. both fast and slow water currents. The present invention derives from the in-depth study of the aforementioned problems, carried out with specific studies, conducted with a long and patient research in the industrial field, supported by comparisons and contacts with the leading experts in the sector, recently encouraged by participation in the tender www.proqettocrescita .org for the advanced technology business incubator at the University of Calabria. The address towards the solution addressed was determined by the specific knowledge of marine environments, acquired by myself during my military service as a non-commissioned officer eco-goniometrist, practiced aboard a minesweeper (Nave Vischio of the Italian Navy) in operations carried out in the depths of the Strait of Messina, of the Strait of Sicily, and abroad. Retracing the fundamental concepts of the RC2Q08A000002 patent solution, the undersigned has devised a new type of turbine with specific hydrodynamic properties, which make it suitable for self-regulating within the water flows, held by a horizontal frame structure (hinged by a extreme). The combinations of the turbine's hydrodynamic properties have made it possible to decentralize the foundation works with respect to the places where the currents are used, obtaining important balances of self-governance and structural efficiency. These characteristics have made the use of a connection frame compatible to decentralize, both in terms of distance and position, all foundation works (for example on the coast, on the embankment, etc.) with innovative applications that ensure consistent advantages. economic and high levels of environmental compatibility. For this important purpose, the new turbine has been equipped with two different fluid-mechanical components, placed on the front operating surface, so as to be able to operate undisturbed between them. For this reason, it was necessary to divide the overall circular section of the new turbine into two distinct hydrodynamic sectors, called "ST and" S2 "(as illustrated in the Drawing Fig. 2), binding the respective fluid-mechanical components to the same sealing axis , "1" (placed vertically and in the center), which operate without negative interference in the two circular and concentric sectors. ( Drawing Fig. 1), (already known in the state of the art) suitable for transforming the kinetic energy of the water currents into a transverse force with respect to the direction of the flow. The association of the fluid-mechanical components as they are located in the section of the turbine, will determine at the passage of the water currents, the development of a further mechanical force "F2" (Drawing Fig. 1) having a transversal direction with respect to that of dragging "FI ''. The two forces" F1 "and" F2 "generated by the water currents are distributed on the same riser" Γ placed in the center of the overall section of the turbine, (Drawings Fig, 1 and Fig. 2) and determine a single resulting force "FR" (Drawing Fig. 1). The force “FR” distributed on the upright “1” connected (from the extremities of the wing extension) to the two members “2” and “3” (Drawings Fig, 1 and Fig. 2) of the holding frame bound to the foundation by means of a hinge. The frame will ensure steering in the water for the third principle of dynamics, reacting with opposite axial forces (without significant moments), assuming a direction that depends on the aforementioned "external forces", operating under traction. The intensity of the force "FI "produced by the dragging and the intensity of the force" F2 "produced by the wing development are linked by the same parameter that arises from the speed of the current that crosses the area affected by the turbine. The resulting force "FR" can be proportioned according to the dimensions assigned to the two diameters of the circular ring "SI" from which the residual area "S2" at the center of the rotor arises. In fact, by suitably modulating the respective two sectors of the turbine, the the sealing frame (hinged horizontal frame) will assume the inclination corresponding to the resulting “FR” desired. For the purposes of the power delivered by the rotor of the new turbine, there is a relationship depending on the diameters of the circular ring "S1" which determine both the power delivered in KW and the angle assumed by the frame with respect to the direction of the flow of water current The power curve for a turbine with a diameter of 12 meters, driven by a current of water with a speed of 2.0 m / s and 2.5 m / s, is shown in (Drawing Fig. 6). , in conditions of optimal performance, where the elongations of the various wing developments placed in the section "S2" are assumed referring to the angles assumed by the turbine support frame for an angular excursion ranging from 20 ° to 50 ° with respect to the direction of the flowing water current. For each example, five different power curves are hypothesized, in order to represent the most significant balancing conditions of sectors "S1" and "S2" depending on the efficiency of the airfoil "8" placed at center (p more or less complex "squat" and / or large), which will affect the size of the rotor surface "8Γ, from which the power produced by the turbine is determined, expressed in KW, as represented by the different curves. The extraordinary compositional flexibility of the machine allows a wide field of application in relation to the best inclination that you want to make the frame assume during steering in the water, simply modulating the two different surfaces "SI" and "S2" which, added together, form the surface overall of the argued turbine. The power coefficients used in the respective examples, (equal to 0.25 and 0.30), refer to the rotor present in the "81" surface of the turbine and reflect the very high efficiency condition of the machine model, in which it is hoped improve the expectations during the sea trials. The power expressed by the curves were determined with the known formula applied to fluids characterized by uniform motion and pressure expressed in W where P0 = m 1/2 V <2> in which m is the mass power (Kg / s) that crosses the front section ("SI" expressed in square meters), V is the fluid velocity expressed in meters per second, while the mass power m is given by the density of the water 1000Kg / m <3> multiplied the speed V and multiplied the surface in square meters of the circular ring “8Γ. Before the detailed description, only some of the properties deriving from the use of the new type of turbine on a hinged frame are listed, to illustrate the applicative importance of the machine in the industrial sector of plants that use the energy of tidal and river currents, and in particular:
- la capacità di fare spaziare la sezione frontale dell’intercettore cinetico (S1 S2) all'interno dei flussi di correnti d’acqua, localizzandosi e stazionando in quelli più produttivi, - the ability to make the front section of the kinetic interceptor (S1 S2) space within the flows of water currents, locating and stationing in the most productive ones,
- l’utilizzo sulla stessa,,faccia di captazione dell’intercettore (S1 52) durante il cambiamento delle direzioni dei flussi d’acqua di marea, per le proprietà della macchina, di (autoregolarsi) riposizionandosi simmetricamente nel telaio di supporto durante i cambiamenti di direzione; - the use of the interceptor (S1 52) on the interceptor face (S1 52) during the change of the directions of the tidal water flows, due to the properties of the machine, to (self-regulate) repositioning itself symmetrically in the support frame during the changes of direction;
- la capacità di supportare sul medesimo telaio l’abbinamento di più turbine aventi identica direzione ed inclinazione della risultante “FR”, poiché, anche in tale ipotesi, il telaio di supporto (incernierato) non verrebbe interessato e/o sottoposto a momenti strutturali significativi; - the ability to support on the same frame the combination of several turbines having the same direction and inclination of the resulting "FR", since, even in this case, the (hinged) support frame would not be affected and / or subjected to significant structural moments ;
- di sviluppare le stesse capacità di autoregolazione e governo nelle correnti d'acqua al variare dell’intensità (velocità) e/o direzione che caratterizzano le correnti negli estuari fluviali e di marea; - si presta a molteplici combinazioni di impiego negli impianti, sia mediante la distribuzione delle turbine lungo il telaio dì supporto, che dalla composizione dei singoli settori (S1 - S2), tali da fare assumere angolazioni volute al telaio strutturale incernierato, esponendo ai flussi ogni singolo intercettore in modo autonomo e/o in tutto o in parte tenendo le superfici frontali sovrapposte; - grazie alia corona circolare del rotore e per il modo di come risulta apposta nel telaio (fissata dal centro) la turbina si presta a supportare facilmente il sistema di trasmissione del moto rotazionale prodotto, sia di un singolo rotore, che dalle varie composizioni derivanti dai possibili abbinamenti operabili su un medesimo telaio, per la sua particolare forma, che permette di supportare agevolmente, uno o più alberi di trasmissione, lungo i membri del telaio, operandone il/i collegamento/i meccanici alia struttura rotante dall’interno del settore “S2" con il sovrastante rotore e in prossimità del montante di tenuta “1” impiegando appositi doppi giunti cardanici; - to develop the same self-regulation and governance abilities in water currents as the intensity (speed) and / or direction that characterize the currents in river and tidal estuaries vary; - lends itself to multiple combinations of use in plants, both through the distribution of the turbines along the support frame, and by the composition of the individual sectors (S1 - S2), such as to make the hinged structural frame take desired angles, exposing any single interceptor autonomously and / or in whole or in part keeping the front surfaces overlapped; - thanks to the circular ring of the rotor and the way it is affixed to the frame (fixed from the center), the turbine easily supports the transmission system of the rotational motion produced, both of a single rotor, and of the various compositions deriving from the possible combinations that can be operated on the same frame, due to its particular shape, which allows one or more transmission shafts to be easily supported along the members of the frame, making the mechanical connection (s) to the rotating structure from inside the sector " S2 "with the rotor above and in proximity to the sealing upright" 1 "using special double cardan joints;
- le dimensioni della corona circolare “6” rotante apposta nel telaio (vincolata al centro) si presta inoltre come sistema di moltiplicazione di giri, permettendo di eliminare dall’impianto l'impiego di un’ausiliaria macchina “moltiplicatore” eliminando l’uso di oli e dei sistemi di sicurezza necessari; - di poter trasportare il moto rotazionale generato direttamente fuori dall’ambiente acquatico, (evitando il passaggio di cavi in mare e/o l'apposizione di macchine elettriche in acqua); - the dimensions of the rotating circular ring "6" affixed to the frame (constrained to the center) also lends itself as a system for multiplying the revolutions, allowing the system to eliminate the use of an auxiliary "multiplier" machine, eliminating the use of oils and the necessary safety systems; - to be able to transport the rotational motion generated directly out of the aquatic environment, (avoiding the passage of cables into the sea and / or the placing of electrical machines in the water);
La nuova turbina è composta dai due distinti settori idrodinamici (S1 S2) rappresentati nel disegni allegati aventi forme circolari concentriche per come di seguito precisato: - to be able to affix in the frame, compressed air ducts, which allow the filling of special flotation chambers for the extraction and introduction into the water of the turbine (s); - to be able to apply along a member of the frame, a rod relating to the safety system, interposed between the turbine (s) and a lever near the hinge of the foundation work, capable of making the interceptor rotate in the shape of a circular crown (surface front "SI"), up to ninety degrees, when the hinged arm frame, for any cause or failure, should tend to tilt beyond the expected angle, drastically reducing the drag force "FI". But the most incisive aspect and which characterizes the present invention is constituted by the possibility offered by the turbine, in making the decentralization of the foundation work necessary for its anchoring feasible. This decentralization can be carried out by lengthening the sealing frame of the turbine / s and with the most suitable angle that you will want the frame to assume during operation in the water currents (which can be determined by modulating the two hydrodynamic sectors used in the turbine (s)), with new and innovative economic thresholds for construction and extraordinary environmental compatibility. These are the requirements that constitute the most important aspect that characterizes the present invention, lending itself to use in industrial form for the construction of innovative marine plants, as well as to restructure and adapt the existing ones, offering new application formulas in the plants that involve the estuaries of the rivers near places where conditions of significant changes in tide altitude occur, and / or for large rivers. The new turbine is composed of two distinct hydrodynamic sectors (S1 S2) represented in the attached drawings having concentric circular shapes as specified below:
A first sector of the front surface (S2) of the turbine is constituted by the circular shaped area placed in the center, delimited by the following rotating circumference "6" (belonging to the following hydrodynamic sector (Sf). In this portion of the surface of operation of the turbine, a wing development "8" is placed in the center, in a vertical position, (which, due to tidal currents, will be of the symmetrical biconvex type to exercise its properties in both directions), with dimensions slightly less than diameter of the overlying rotating structure. The wing development "8" will be held by a central axis T Drawings Fig. 1, 2, 3, 4, acting as an upright in the structure that makes up the horizontal frame and the characteristic of remaining in a vertical position during the exercise and in the center I respect the area described, which is the total area (front surface of the machine). The wing development "8" may also have a variable chord extension so as to to regulate its thrust capacity and to be able to rotate freely within the central portion of the turbine (Drawing Fig. 5) positions “4” and “5”. The largest section of the string will be in the center of the upright (see indication Drawings Fig. 1. 2, 3, 4), and the two smaller sections of the string will be at the ends near the members "2" and "3 '' that make up the horizontal sealing frame. A use of this type of wing development with variable section, (eg profile NACA0012 with high efficiency of force "F2") where the wing development will take on a "squat" shape to be affixed to the upright "Γ constantly at 1⁄4 of the length of the rope. The inclination limitation will be obtained by means of simple stops "4" (limit switch) (Drawing Fig. 5) provided between the lower section rope and the corresponding member "2" and " 3 ". This condition characterizes the property of the turbine to self-regulate, internally to the water currents, regardless of the direction taken by the current. In fact, due to the position of the profile placed at 1⁄4 of the length of the chord, the flow will rotate the wing development (see indications "5" Drawing Fig. 5), until it reaches the angle "alpha" Drawing Fig. 1 necessary at maximum lift "F2" (about 12 degrees with respect to the flow direction) pushing the entire turbine in the opposite direction with respect to the coast or to the embankment. The balance against the drag force is maintained both for a single direction (river) and in cases of changes in the direction of the tides with two stops "4" thanks to the described symmetrical biconvex wing development (which can rotate on the horizontal plane in the axis "1" to 1⁄4 of rope), adjustable with lock in the sealing frame "2" "3", to return (in the absence of flow) to the initial position (Drawing Fig. 5) by means of a spring system or similar. The structure constitutes the holding arm of the turbine, which departing from the place chosen for the foundation is suitably hinged to! in order to support the excursions of the turbine (s), spacing it in a specific aquatic environment. Above the respective and opposite members "2" "3" to which the aforementioned central wing development "8" is fixed, two symmetrical uprights are affixed in continuation, aligned with the structure and hinged, designed to support two or more track wheels "7". The wheels <u> 7 ", equipped with their own horizontal rotation axis, will support the rotation of the structural ring (toothed and equipped with special wing developments)" 6 "held bound by the inside of its circumference, on the two opposite sealing members "2" "3" constituting the frame, allowing the rotation of the upper sector "SI" outside the described central sealing axis "1", which will assume the role of upright in the frame structure. between the structural ring of the rotor "SI" and the upright "1" passing through the wing development "8", it allows a complete rotation on the vertical plane of the sector "S1" by means of the track wheels "7", as well as for the two hinges that connect the sealing structure of the ru ote "7" on the upright "Γ, partial rotation on the horizontal plane of the entire rotating ring" SI "will also be allowed, up to the intersection of the structural ring" 6 "with the two members" 2 "" 3 "forming part of the turbine sealing structure. Along the members "2" and / or "3" of the structure, the transmission shaft of the rotational motion obtained from the portion of the turbine in the shape of a circular crown will be affixed. The transmission shaft can therefore easily pass through one or more turbines being located inside the rotating ring. The connection of one or more turbines to the same transmission shaft can be carried out near the place of intersection with the aforementioned track wheel T, which supports the rotating structural ring "6", by means of the connection made with the known cardan joints, in order to connect the transmission axis with respect to the multiple angular positions assumed by the impeller "S1" on the sealing frame, allowing the use of an identical transmission shaft in the same structural sealing frame for the affixing of one or more turbines in series In addition, multiple turbines with different directions of rotation can be combined, in order to compensate for the torsion moments operating during the operation of the generator, this can be combined with opposite directions of rotation alternating between a turbine and the 'other, which can be easily collected on at least two separate transmission shafts as described above and located on one or two and opposite members “2” “3” of the frame. Another important function, which can be supported by the turbine, is the structure of the multiplied transmission, which can be easily obtained from the large rotating ring "6" to which the transmission member is connected in special gears, thus easily obtaining the revolutions necessary for the electric current generator placed outside the aquatic environment.
A second front surface sector S1 of the turbine is constituted by the upper circular area with respect to that just described. The second portion will have the shape of a circular crown and will affect the “S1” surface placed in continuation of the “S2” one. The circular perimeter structure "6" will rotate around the upright of the horizontal frame Ί ", through a system of wheels" 7 "that support the joint" to the chosen rail guide type ". Furthermore, the rotating circular structure "6" of the turbine will allow a rotation on the horizontal plane in axis with the upright "1" of the frame so as to always remain perpendicular to the passing flows (see Fig. 3, 4 and 5) thanks to the structure with on the external part of the ring structure "6", in the form of a ring nut, the wing developments appropriate to the type of currents "9" will be affixed, which will sweep within the frontal area contained in the upper circular crown "S1 ". The wing developments affixed in the area of the circular ring "S1", kept bound to the rotating ring "6", will have an off-center attachment "10" with respect to the anchoring rail "11" placed inside the overlying ring nut surface (Drawing Fig. 1), in order to create an adequate moment necessary to make the crown "S1" stand in front of the flows of water passing through. The number of wing developments arranged on the ring and their wingspan will be of the type and shape known to the state of the In the composition of the turbines on the looms, the technique in order to combine reverse rotations can be used, given the simplicity of mechanical connection of the transmission (for example by providing a ring gear Ί Γ (Fig. 1) with toothed transmission with a gear wheel "7" (Fig. 2) and off-centered by cardan joints on the transmission shaft (s) (Fig. 5) suitably equipped with any telescopic elongations. DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION AND VERSATIL ITÀ OF USE. Starting from the bathymetric heights of a site, the diameter of the turbine will be determined. By balancing the distinct areas that make up the two sectors of the turbine, the most suitable angular setting desired by the inclination of the holding arm on the horizontal plane (Fig. 5) can be predetermined by predicting the position of the foundation work and the best composition on the chassis.
La parte interessante è l’abbinamento possibile delle turbine in relazione all’angolazione del braccio, operabile sia (prevedendo le giranti tutte esposte alla corrente ma con minore area frontale) o con parziale sovrapposizione delle aree frontali (ma con maggiore dimensione e maggiore distanza) come da curve di potenza (Prospetto Disegno Fig. 6). 1 three-dimensional Drawing Fig. 3 and 4 (if well without wing development of the impeller) represent the layout of the components relating to the single turbine, during a tidal current, respectively, descending and upright. Therefore, thanks to the particular conformation, the horizontal holding arm can be hinged (according to the various needs of the installation sites), or directly to a fixed foundation built on a pole (Drawing Fig. 5), or by adapting the necessary foundation work , or by means of an auxiliary structure, which allows to support the axis of rotation of the frame by affixing a further fixed secondary structure, duly anchored and composed of at least one articulated quadrilateral (with two long equal members arranged symmetrically in vertical and connected by means of the hinge to the horizontal arm that supports the turbines. In this last hypothesis, the auxiliary structure will have a hinged frame with the two identical members and at least one connecting rod (placed in correspondence with the hinge supporting the horizontal arm of the turbines. the hinged frame and any auxiliary frame will transport the Meccani motorbike outside co produced by the turbine. In this case, the foundation works must be located completely outside and with at least a triangulation of adequate anchoring works. The interesting part is the possible combination of the turbines in relation to the angle of the arm, operable either (providing the impellers all exposed to the current but with less frontal area) or with partial overlapping of the frontal areas (but with greater size and greater distance) as per power curves (Drawing Prospectus Fig. 6).
PASRTICULAR CASES: 1) In the presence of high differences in tide or river heights, a frame height regulator can be placed by means of a float "12" placed near the foundation work {Drawing Fig, 5) which accompanies the stationing of the frame (cables "13") at a constant height with respect to the surface of the body of water. the frame that supports the turbine (s), allowing it to rotate also on the vertical plane, in order to be able to flex vertically to counteract the forces of the wave motion. In this circumstance, it will be advisable to equip the fixed frame with one or more excursion limiters in the vertical plane in the case of maximum inclination, avoiding impacting the wing developments of sector "S1" in the seabed. Please note that the structure and the wing developments must be floating to keep the frame in suspension and / or adequately upwards. 3) For the installation of the turbine, in rivers with only one direction of flow of currents, the symmetrical biconvex wing development "8" must be replaced by another type with unidirectional characteristics, having an adequate efficiency to develop the “F2” force without the need to make up for the bi-directionality.
In conclusion, it is specified that the details of execution, the dimensions, the materials, the shape, the type of the wing developments, the accessories of the turbines, the anchors, the composition system of the turbines and the frame, the accessories of the holding arm , the members used to operate the mechanical transmission, the safety systems mentioned, the accessories indicated, the drawings in the shapes, solutions and proportions used, may in any case vary without changing the concepts without therefore departing from the scope of the invention and therefore from the domain of this industrial patent.
